Learning outcomes
General
- Understanding of the financial fundamentals of a nonprofit organization;
- Knowledge of the basic concepts of nonprofit accounting and financial management;
- Understanding of the relationship between a nonprofit¿s financial resources and its ability to advance its mission;
- Ability to read and interpret financial reports;
- Knowledge of the concepts and methods for financing nonprofit organizations, including the relationship to government funding;
- Working knowledge of how to plan for the financial needs of a nonprofit organization (e.g., budgeting for operations, capital budgeting);
- Ability to develop strategic financial options for a nonprofit organization; and
- Ability to apply accounting and other financial information to sustain the operations of a nonprofit organization, remain financially healthy, and manage risk, change, and growth.
