NURS 456P Community Health Nursing Practicum
The clinical experience in this course focuses on application of concepts of community/public health nursing in diverse community settings, emphasizing disease prevention, health promotion, risk reduction, and cultural awareness within a holistic framework, at three levels of practice; system, community and individual/family.
Students must register concurrently for NURS 456: Community Health Nursing.

Learning outcomes
General
- Apply research findings from nursing and public health in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating population-based care.
- Deliver public health nursing interventions to selected client aggregates that are culturally congruent with client expectation and preferences.
- Demonstrate communication skills that evidence unconditional acceptance, nurturance, support and facilitation when delivering nursing interventions to systems, communities, and individuals and families.
- Demonstrate ethical, legal, and professional accountability in public health and community nursing practice.
