PSYC 400 Advanced Abnormal Psychology

This course examines selected areas of psychopathology in greater depth. Topics stimulating controversy or special interests in the professional literature are discussed. Attention is given to differential diagnosis.

Learning outcomes

General

  • Student will be able to develop and create new and alternative approaches to understanding abnormal psychology.
  • Students will also understand the strengths and limitations of the diagnostic system and will be required to develop alternative approaches to assessment and treatment.
  • Students will analyze how treatments and assessments are evaluated via scientific research.
  • Students will display an advanced understanding of theories and applications of the theories of psychopathology, including how it is assessed and treated.
