About holistic nursing

Our nursing department values holistic health and healing. Thus, four of our nursing programs are aligned with the values and standards of holistic nursing practice established by the American Holistic Nurses Association, including the RN-BSN, Entry Level Master of Science in Nursing, Doctor of Nursing Practice Family Nurse Practitioner, and Minnesota Alliance for Nursing Education.

The holistic focus of the curricula in all four programs is endorsed by the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation. AHNCC endorsement provides many benefits for graduates of the RN-BSN, Entry Level Master of Science in Nursing, DNP Family Nurse Practitioner, and Minnesota Alliance for Nursing Education programs. Graduates will be prepared to practice holistic nursing and receive benefits if they choose to seek holistic nurse certification.

Holistic nurse certification

Graduates from endorsed programs who earn licenses as RNs are eligible for a waiver of the 48 contact hours of continuing holistic nursing education, the one-year, full-time holistic nursing practice requirements post-graduation, and the self-reflective assessment if certified within two years of graduation. They also pay a reduced application fee. Students who take and pass a holistic nursing exam from AHNCC will become board certified as a holistic nurse.
