As we close out spring 2023 semester, we have many accomplishments of our colleagues to celebrate. Please take a moment to read about and celebrate these accomplishments.

At this year's Spring Faculty Development conference, President Ginny Arthur announced the Center for Faculty Development's selection committee's selections for both teaching and advising awards.

Recognized for Excellence in Teaching are: 

  • Queen E. Booker, associate professor, Management Information Systems, College of Management
  • Victor Cole, senior community faculty, School of Urban Education
  • Paul Hyde, senior community faculty, Computer Science and Cybersecurity, College of Sciences 
  • Carolyn Whitson, professor, Literature and Language, College of Liberal Arts

Recipients of the Outstanding Teaching Award are:

  • Rose McKinney, senior community faculty, Professional Communication, College of Liberal Arts
  • Cindy Kaus, professor, Mathematics and Statistics, College of Sciences

The recipient of the Lifetime Achievement in Teaching Award is:

  • Joel Wilson, professor, Accounting, College of Management

Teaching is at the heart of our university mission and these faculty members are leading the way with innovative methods and extraordinary support for students. Congratulations on this important recognition!

At Metro State, advising plays a critical part in the academic success of our students. 

Recipients of the Carol C. Ryan Advising Award are:

  • Angela Bowlus, advising director, College of Management
  • Therissa Libby, professor, Human Services, College of Community Studies and Public Affairs

Recipients of the Donna Blacker Lifetime Achievement in Advising Award are:

  • Kate Southwick, academic advisor, College of Community Studies and Public Affairs
  • Tonia Baxter, academic advisor, College of Individualized Studies
