Biography

Craig Hansen, Ph.D., serves as the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. The College of Liberal Arts houses the Humanities, Social Sciences, Communication and Arts curricula. It offers a wide array of undergraduate majors as well as two graduate programs. Previous to this he served as a professor of Technical Communication, Chair of the School of Communication, Writing and the Arts and the Department of Writing. He has developed several academic programs, including the Masters of Science in Technical Communication. He has long been involved in university and faculty governance.

Dr. Hansen holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and an MA and BA from the University of Illinois. He has published articles, book chapters, reviews and the well-received text, Non-Academic Writing: Social Theory and Technology. His publications are in the areas of technical communication and the social impact of communication technology. He has also published three novels. Prior to his academic career, he served as a product manager of networking products for a division of AT&T.
