Sandi Sibley Gerick nominated for Excellence in Service Award

Posted February 8, 2018

Dear colleagues:

I am proud to announce that Sandi Sibley Gerick is Metropolitan State University’s Outstanding Service Faculty Member for 2018, and a nominee for the Board of Trustees’ Excellence in Service Award.

Sandi’s faculty and staff colleagues, and her students, speak in superlative terms about the value and importance of her 18 years of skilled contributions to the success of the School of Nursing, which offers high-demand professional programs to its diverse and deeply motivated students. Sandi has excelled in direct student service, strategic leadership, and staff supervision, and her attention to professional development over decades has been focused, demanding, and fruitful.

Many colleagues also underscored Sandi’s obvious team leadership qualities, her intuitive ability to solve problems, and the particular attention she gives to students to whom higher education’s processes are new. While serving as director of academic advising for several years, she has continued to assign a significant caseload of student advisees and prospective students to herself. The number of service awards for which Sandi has been nominated over the years is further evidence of the esteem in which she is held by colleagues in her own field and in others.

I was proud to forward Sandi’s strong nomination portfolio to the Board of Trustees on behalf of the university. Please join me in congratulating Sandi, and in thanking her for representing Metropolitan State so admirably.

Sincerely,

President Virginia "Ginny" Arthur, JD
