This course focuses on implementing a clinical scholarship project designed to improve health outcomes of a defined population. Students will lead the clinical scholarship project; while collaborating with stakeholders, the capstone clinical mentor, and the Capstone Project Adviser. Students accrue 100 clinical hours related to the clinical scholarship project. Competence Statement: Knows concepts of project management well enough to implement the clinical scholarship project.

Note: This course meets four times via a synchronous meeting platform. The remainder of hours is spent in a practice site on the clinical scholarship project.

Learning outcomes

General

  • Demonstrate leadership in implementation of clinical practice guidelines and evaluation of outcomes.
  • Employ high level consultative and leadership skills with intraprofessional and interprofessional teams to create change in health care and complex health care delivery systems.
  • Implement a context-sensitive clinical practice guideline or project to address a clinical nursing practice problem.
  • Implement standards/principles for selecting and evaluating information systems relevant to nursing practice.
