The College of Liberal Arts presents:

Face Up: An Afternoon of Poetry and Conversation

    • Tuesday, April 11, 2023
      4:30 pm – 6 pm
  • Auditorium
    387 Maria Avenue, Saint Paul

Face Up: A collection of outlaw poetry by Suzanne Nielsen, Forward by Alison McGhee, with a child's fist on a purple background

Join the Metro State community as we celebrate National Poetry Month with the recent publication of professor Suzanne Nielsen’s book of poetry, Face Up. The collection is the winner of the 2021 Oleb Books Poetry Prize. It serves as a springboard for conversations around moments when facing up to something, or someone, is the only wayout of a dilemma.

Metro State students and faculty will read original work that speaks to facing up, and engage in a panel discussion. Attendees will be entered to win several prizes from the publisher, Oleb Books. Copies of Face Up: A collection of Outlaw Poems will be available for purchase.

This event is sponsored by the College of Liberal Arts at Metro State.

ASL interpretation will be provided, and this event will also be available remotely via Zoom.
