School of Criminal Justice (SCJ) advisor presents Pre-major Advising Workshop (PAW) dates:

  • Tuesday, July 30, 3–5 p.m. via Zoom
  • Wednesday, August 28, 4–6 p.m. via Zoom

SCJ Student Independent PAW Option: PAW via D2L is available based on signup. Students request access to the PAW modules, submit required forms, and complete the PAW with an Educational Planning Advising Appointment.

The Pre-major Advising Workshop (PAW) is designed for criminal justice, criminal justice with the police studies certificate, and police science students after admission to the university. PAW sessions introduce students to SCJ programs, policies, and procedures for Educational Planning.

The PAW is a requirement to declare an SCJ major. The student must complete online New Student Orientation first, and then schedule the PAW by filling out this form.

PAW participation is recommended during a student’s first semester.

Sessions are offered throughout the year | Space is limited, and walk-ins are not accepted | Sessions are two hours long | Dates may be subject to change.

CJS 201 Foundations in Criminal Justice: Students registered for CJS 201 Foundations in Criminal Justice may complete the PAW requirement independently paired with an Educational Planning Advising Appointment. To finalize the PAW requirement students must schedule an Educational Planning appointment directly with their assigned Professional Academic Advisor.

Attention: Veterans and Military Students who need major acceptance due to funding are advised to connect with their academic advisors before their first semester to confirm priority next steps.
