Assistance is available for our veteran and military connected students

Metropolitan State University is in the process of filling the coordinator position for Veteran and Military Student Services.

In the meantime, the following assistance is available for our veteran and military connected students:

Assistance with benefits

Julie Severson will be in the Veteran and Military Student Center at Founders Hall 201 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Wednesdays and Thursdays. Severson may be reached on other days by email at Julie.severson@Metrostate.edu or phone at 651-793-1320.

Veteran and Military Student Center – Founders Hall 201

Veteran and military connected students may use the center for studying, computers, printers, etc. They can also have a cup of coffee, snacks and otherwise unwind and stay connected. Hours are 8:30 AM-4:30 PM Monday to Friday.

If the center is not accessible during these hours, please ask students to come to the Dean of Students suite (FH 228) for assistance.

Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs

Metropolitan State University’s representative, Duane Bauer, is available by phone or email for general inquiries. He is available on campus from 8AM to 1:30 PM, July 12, Aug. 9 and Aug. 23.

Bauer also has hours at other colleges and universities, including some of the dates and locations listed below. Students may access him at any of these locations also: 

  • Minneapolis Community and Technical College;  9AM-2:30 PM July 15, Aug. 19 
  • St. Mary’s University – Minneapolis; 9AM-5:30 PM July 16, July 30, Aug. 27 
  • St. Paul College; 2-5:30 PM July 9, Aug. 20
