Metro State University's team of marketing students was awarded third place at the 2024 American Marketing Association's Collegiate Case Competition. The team, selected by Associate Professor and Department Chair Minjung Park and consisting of marketing students Christine Otieno, Shelby Pabon, and Delilah Yang, competed against nine other teams from universities around the country.

In the words of Dr. Park, "When I first learned about the American Marketing Association Collegiate Case Competition, I saw it as an incredible opportunity for our students. Despite previous attempts over the past two years, recruiting student participants proved challenging. However, this year, I was able to assemble a stellar team comprising three remarkable marketing students: Christine, Shelby, and Delilah.

"In my role as a faculty advisor, I had the privilege of guiding these outstanding students through the competition journey. Despite the challenges of balancing work and family commitments, we practiced presentations stretching well past 8 p.m.

"Competing against ten formidable teams, including students from prestigious institutions like U of M Twin Cities, Duluth, University of Wisconsin Whitewater and Madison, University of Northern Iowa, and Washington State University in St. Louis, was both exhilarating and rewarding. As a diverse and non-traditional institution, Metro State's presence truly stood out. We were the most diverse and compact team.

"I'm incredibly proud to announce that our hard work and resilience paid off, as we won 3rd place in the competition! This achievement stands as a testament to the dedication and perseverance demonstrated by our students throughout this journey. I couldn't be prouder of our team's accomplishments. Let's celebrate their incredible achievements!"

Congratulations to the Metro State Collegiate Case team and to their advisor, Dr. Park!
