The Art Exhibition Committee is pleased to announce the results of the 2023 Art Purchase Award. Four works have been selected for acquisition. Three artworks were executed by students. One was created by an alumna.

The work includes:

  • Gretchen Funk’s triptych of digital prints, entitled Trilogy: Cows, Church Lot, Radio
  • Kimber Starnes’s, acrylic on canvas painting, entitled Empty Promises
  • Jerome McRoy’s ink, pencil, and Copic marker drawing, entitled Houston Puzzles
  • Kallie Taniguchi’s acrylic on cloth painting, entitled Growing in Anticipation

The placement of the works is yet to be established.

The annual Art Purchase Award is to encourage the growth and development of student and alumni studio artists and to elevate the profile of the arts on campus. The Art Exhibition Committee orchestrates up to seven $1,000 awards, selected on the basis of artistic merit.

The 2023 Art Purchase Award is generously supported by Academic Affairs, the Alumni Association, and the Student Senate.
