1098-T tuition statement tax form

Metro State University provides the 1098‑T Tuition Statement to eligible students each year for tax reporting purposes. This form reports qualified tuition and related expenses paid during a single calendar year.

How You Receive Your 1098‑T

Electronic Delivery (eServices)

Students who opt in to receive their 1098‑T electronically will be able to access the form through Student eServices by the end of January each year. Forms are provided in PDF format and replace the paper version sent by mail.

Paper Mail

Students who do not opt in for electronic delivery will receive a paper copy by mail by the end of January.

Please ensure Metro State University has your current mailing address on file by December 15 of each year.

How to Opt In for Electronic Delivery

Great news—students can consent to receive their Minnesota State Colleges and Universities tax forms electronically.

To opt in:

  2. If you are eligible to receive a 1098‑T Tuition Statement, you will see a message in the Action Items area on your dashboard.

Once consent is given, your 1098‑T will no longer be mailed and will instead be delivered electronically each year.

When You’ll Be Notified

When the 1098‑T Tuition Statement becomes available (typically in January), you will receive:

  • A notification in the Action Items area of Student eServices, and
  • An email with the subject line:
    IMPORTANT TAX RETURN DOCUMENT AVAILABLE
