Frequently Asked Questions

How do I prepare for my first day and apprenticeship experience?

Before your first day, you should review their job description, confirm your schedule, and complete any onboarding requirements provided by the employer. Come prepared to learn, ask questions, and communicate openly with your supervisor. Treat the apprenticeship as a professional role and a learning opportunity.

Will I get a job offer from the employer when I complete my apprenticeship?

A job offer is not guaranteed. However, the goal of the apprenticeship is to create a pathway to employment. Employers may extend an offer based on performance, organizational needs, and available positions, and you may choose whether to accept an offer.

What happens if I graduate or am no longer enrolled at Metro State before completing my apprenticeship?

If you graduate or are no longer enrolled at Metro State University, you should notify the Career Center as soon as possible so next steps can be discussed with you and the employer.

What happens if I receive a job offer elsewhere?

You are not required to accept an offer from your apprenticeship employer. If you receive another job offer, and choose to accept or decline it, you should communicate your decision professionally and in a timely manner to the appropriate party(ies).

I have concerns about my apprenticeship experience, what should I do?

If you encounter performance issues or concerns during your apprenticeship, you should first address them directly with your supervisor, following your employer’s established processes. The Career Center is available to provide coaching, guidance, and resources to help you navigate these situations professionally, but does not act as a mediator with your employer.
